예원예술대학교, 외국인근로자 트랙 신입생 오리엔테이션 개최

예원예술대학교(총장 고광모)는 8일 오전 10시 경기 드림캠퍼스에서 문화예술대학원 외국인근로자 트랙 신입생 오리엔테이션을 개최하고 신입생들을 환영했다.

이날 행사에는 부산, 경남, 충청, 강원 등 전국 각지에서 온 외국인 근로자 신입생 약 30여 명이 참석했다. 참석자 대부분은 E-9, E-7-4, E-7-4R, F-2-R 비자를 소지한 외국인 근로자들로, 한국에서 일과 학업을 병행하며 진로 개발과 장기적인 정착을 준비하기 위해 대학 진학을 선택했다.

오리엔테이션은 김세영 교수의 환영 인사로 시작됐다. 이어 조혜진 문화예술대학원 학부장이 축사를 통해 신입생들의 입학을 축하하며 학업에 대한 격려의 메시지를 전했다. 이후 외국인근로자 트랙 수업을 담당할 교수진 소개가 이어졌으며, 신입생들을 대상으로 학사 일정 안내와 캠퍼스 및 학교 생활 안내가 진행됐다.

예원예술대학교는 2023년 9월 학기부터 외국인 근로자를 대상으로 한 외국인근로자 트랙을 운영하고 있다. 해당 과정은 외국인 근로자들이 근로와 학업을 병행할 수 있도록 교육과정을 구성해 고등교육 기회를 제공하는 데 목적을 두고 있다.

특히 지난 2월에는 외국인근로자 트랙을 통해 두 번째 졸업생을 배출하며 외국인 근로자 대상 교육 프로그램의 성과를 이어가고 있다.

국제교류 김세영 교수는 “외국인근로자 트랙은 학위 취득을 넘어 외국인 근로자의 진로 개발과 진학, 그리고 한국 사회 정주를 지원하는 데 초점을 두고 운영되고 있다”며 “앞으로도 외국인 근로자들이 안정적으로 학업을 이어가고 미래를 설계할 수 있도록 다양한 교육 프로그램을 확대해 나갈 계획”이라고 밝혔다.

Yewon Arts University Holds Orientation for New Students in the Foreign Worker Track

Yewon Arts University (President Ko Kwang-mo) held an orientation for new students in the Foreign Worker Track of the College of Culture and Arts at its Gyeonggi Dream Campus at 10 a.m. on March 8, welcoming the newly admitted students.

About 30 new foreign worker students attended the event, traveling from various regions across Korea including Busan, Gyeongnam, Chungcheong, and Gangwon. Most of the participants are foreign workers holding E-9, E-7-4, E-7-4R, and F-2-R visas. They chose to pursue university education while continuing their employment in Korea in order to develop their careers and prepare for long-term settlement in Korean society.

The orientation began with welcoming remarks by Professor Kim Se-young. This was followed by congratulatory remarks from Cho Hye-jin, Dean of the Graduate School of Culture and Arts, who congratulated the new students on their admission and encouraged them in their academic journey. The program also included an introduction of the professors who will teach in the Foreign Worker Track, followed by guidance on the academic calendar and information about campus life.

Yewon Arts University has been operating the Foreign Worker Track since the fall semester of 2023, providing higher education opportunities for foreign workers. The program is designed to help foreign workers balance work and study while developing their professional competencies.

In February this year, the university produced its second group of graduates from the Foreign Worker Track, demonstrating the continuing success of the educational program for foreign workers.

Professor Kim Se-young of the Office of International Affairs stated, “The Foreign Worker Track focuses not only on obtaining a degree but also on supporting foreign workers in career development, further education, and long-term settlement in Korean society. We plan to continue expanding various educational programs so that foreign workers can pursue their studies stably and plan their future.”
