예원예술대학교(총장 고광모) 국제매니지먼트학부(학부장 정재엽 교수)는 23일 캠퍼스 내에서 교수진을 대상으로 '2026학년도 사회통합프로그램(KIIP) 운영 가이드 세미나'를 성황리에 개최했다.

국제교류교육단과의 협력으로 진행된 이번 세미나는 2026학년도 신입생으로 입학하는 700여 명의 외국인 유학생들을 위한 체계적인 학사관리 및 학교 생활 적응 지원 방안을 구체화하기 위해 마련됐다.

학점 연계형 사회통합프로그램으로 유학생 실질 혜택 제공

이날 세미나에서는 법무부 주관 국가 표준 과정인 사회통합프로그램(KIIP)을 대학 정규 교양·필수 과목으로 편성해 학점과 연계하는 방안이 중점적으로 논의됐다. 이를 통해 외국인 유학생들은 한국어 능력 향상과 동시에 졸업 학점을 취득할 수 있으며, 단계별 이수 시 아르바이트(시간제 취업) 허가 요건 완화, 체류허가·영주권 심사 시 가점 부여 등 실질적인 혜택을 받게 된다.

국제교류센터장 김세영 교수는 발표를 통해 "KIIP는 단순한 한국어 교육을 넘어 유학생들이 한국 사회 구성원으로 성공적으로 정착하고 자립하는 데 필요한 기본 소양을 체계적으로 함양하는 프로그램"이라며 "예원예술대학교는 0단계부터 5단계까지 총 515시간의 교육 과정을 학점과 연계해 운영함으로써 학생들의 학업 성취도와 사회 적응력을 동시에 높일 것"이라고 설명했다.

3단계 상담 시스템으로 중도 이탈 방지 및 위기 관리 강화

국제매니지먼트학부는 외국인 유학생의 안정적인 대학 생활을 위해 '3단계 상담 시스템'을 구축했다.

• 1단계(기초 상담): 학과 조교가 매 수업 직후 출결을 확인하고 일상적인 학생 관리 수행
• 2단계(심화 상담): 국제교류팀이 반복 결석자를 소환해 상담하고, 비자 및 학점 유급 위험 경고
• 3단계(위기 관리): 외국인 학생 전문 상담센터 '코사(KOSA)'와 연계해 심리 불안 및 중도 이탈 위기 학생 집중 케어

김세영 센터장은 "출석률 80% 이상 유지가 필수이며, 30일 이상 무단 결석 시 제적 처리되는 엄격한 기준을 적용한다"며 "다만 학생들이 어려움을 겪기 전에 선제적으로 발견하고 지원하는 3단계 시스템을 통해 중도 탈락을 최소화할 것"이라고 강조했다.

전문 강사진 구성 및 체계적 운영 체계 구축

이날 세미나에서는 신규 강사 인사와 기존 강사 인사도 진행됐다. 한국어와 한국문화 과정(0~4단계) 담당 강사는 한국어교원 3급 이상 자격증 소지자 또는 한국어교원 양성과정 이수 후 이민자 교육 경력 500시간 이상 보유자로 구성되며, 한국사회이해 과정(5단계) 강사는 다문화사회 전문가 등 법무부장관이 정하는 교육을 이수한 전문가들이 맡는다.

모든 강사는 강의 종료 후 48시간 이내 사회통합정보망(Socinet)에 출석을 입력해야 하며, 연 1회 의무적으로 역량강화교육을 이수해야 한다.

정재엽 국제매니지먼트학부장은 "2026학년도에는 700여 명의 외국인 신입생이 입학할 예정으로, 이들의 성공적인 학사관리와 학교 생활 적응이 무엇보다 중요하다"며 "KIIP를 통한 체계적인 한국어 교육, 학점 연계를 통한 학업 동기 부여, 3단계 상담 시스템을 통한 밀착 관리로 우리 대학 유학생들이 한국에서 꿈을 이루고 글로벌 인재로 성장할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.

Yewon Arts University (President Ko Kwang-mo), Department of International Management (Dean Professor Jung Jae-yeop) announced that it successfully held the '2026 Social Integration Program (KIIP) Operation Guide Seminar' for faculty members on campus on the 23rd.

This seminar, conducted in collaboration with the International Exchange Education Division, was organized to establish specific measures for systematic academic management and school life adaptation support for approximately 700 international students enrolling as freshmen in the 2026 academic year.

Providing Practical Benefits to International Students through Credit-Linked Social Integration Program

During the seminar, there was focused discussion on integrating the Social Integration Program (KIIP), a national standard program supervised by the Ministry of Justice, as a regular liberal arts or required course at the university with credit linkage. Through this, international students can earn graduation credits while improving their Korean language proficiency, and receive practical benefits such as relaxed requirements for part-time work permits upon completion of each level, bonus points in residence permit and permanent residency screening, and exam exemptions.

Professor Kim Se-young, Director of the International Exchange Center, explained through his presentation, "KIIP is a program that systematically cultivates the basic competencies necessary for international students to successfully settle and become self-reliant as members of Korean society, beyond simple Korean language education," adding, "Yewon Arts University will simultaneously enhance students' academic achievement and social adaptation by operating a total of 515 hours of educational courses from Level 0 to Level 5 linked with credits."

Strengthening Prevention of Student Attrition and Crisis Management through 3-Step Counseling System

The Department of International Management has established a '3-step counseling system' for the stable university life of international students.

• Step 1 (Basic Counseling): Department assistants check attendance immediately after each class and perform routine student management
• Step 2 (In-depth Counseling): The International Exchange Team summons repeatedly absent students for counseling and warns of visa and academic retention risks
• Step 3 (Crisis Management): Intensive care for students at risk of psychological instability and dropout through connection with KOSA, a specialized counseling center for international students

Director Kim Se-young emphasized, "We apply strict standards requiring attendance rate of 80% or higher, with expulsion for unauthorized absence of 30 days or more," adding, "However, we will minimize dropouts through our 3-step system that proactively identifies and supports students before they experience difficulties."

Establishment of Professional Faculty and Systematic Operation System

The seminar also included introductions of new instructors and existing instructors. Instructors for the Korean Language and Korean Culture courses (Levels 0-4) consist of Korean language teacher certificate holders (Level 3 or higher) or those who have completed Korean language teacher training courses with over 500 hours of immigrant education experience, while instructors for the Understanding Korean Society course (Level 5) are experts such as multicultural society specialists who have completed education designated by the Minister of Justice.

All instructors must enter attendance into the Social Integration Information Network (Socinet) within 48 hours after class completion and are required to complete competency enhancement training once a year.

Dean Jung Jae-yeop of the Department of International Management stated, "With approximately 700 international freshmen expected to enroll in the 2026 academic year, their successful academic management and school life adaptation are of utmost importance," adding, "We will do our best to help our university's international students achieve their dreams in Korea and grow into global talent through systematic Korean language education via KIIP, academic motivation through credit linkage, and close management through the 3-step counseling system."

The Department of International Management at Yewon Arts University plans to continue expanding customized support programs for international students through close cooperation with the International Exchange Education Division.
